Gordon Research Conferences are deliberately small, intimate meetings with less than 200 attendees. In the past, the Microfluidics GRC has been a dynamic meeting with enthusiastic participation by speakers and attendees. If you have not previously attended a Microfluidics Gordon Conference, you will find the experience to be an interactive atmosphere that is both exciting and stimulating. The first four conferences in this series were exceptionally successful with thought-provoking formal sessions on important subtopics in our field, and informal unstructured time used for stimulating discussions amongst all participants. The GRC is an excellent forum for junior scientists (including graduate students, post doctoral fellows) to interact closely with the more senior researchers. Senior researchers also find the forum engaging and thought-provoking.
The 2009 Gordon Research Conference will focus on fundamental physicochemical phenomena that underpin the continuing advancement of microfluidic and nanofluidic systems. The program further provides a forum for late-breaking reports on new applications of these systems in areas such as single molecule measurements, nanotechnology, cell biology, and health diagnostics.
All oral presentations are invited ensuring high quality talks with an abundance of never before reported results. A preliminary list of sessions and speakers is provided below. General attendance is not by invitation, but by application to the GRC website. Abstracts for poster contributions are also submitted, and a limited number of abstracts are selected for presentation on the basis of quality and level of innovation. We invite you to attend the conference, contribute your very latest results, and engage in discussion.
Selected subjects covered include:
Integrated, Multifunctional Systems |
Nano and Microscale Transport |
Selected speakers include:
Jaap M.J. den Toonder |
Peter Gascoyne |
Robert Austin |
Please note the following deadlines with regard to this conference:
Application with abstract submission for poster presentation*: April 17th, 2009
Notification of acceptance for attendance with poster presentation: May 1st, 2009
Application/registration to attend conference: June 7th, 2009
*We anticipate travel grants available for some or all attending graduate students. Those applying for student travel grants will be required to submit an abstract for a poster presentation of their work. Anyone interested in applying for the student travel grants should indicate such at the bottom of their abstract, when the abstract is submitted. The deadline for applications for student travel grants is April 17th, 2009.
